Attainable Design

For design professionals, developers and contractors looking to balance design aesthetics with cost requirements whilst wanting a good quality product. Karta delivers the natural look and feel of hardwood flooring without the associated costs.

GOOD FOR US AND THE ENVIRONMENT

Sustainable flooring starts with a 100% natural wood fibre base. Natural wood fibre is a truly eco-efficient option with excellent mechanical performance and superb dimensional stability. It's also warm under foot, naturally sound absorbent and has been proven to reduce stress. Karta uses 30 times less energy to produce than vinyl and other plastic based floors, and because it stores more carbon than it takes to produce, it's actually carbon negative. Plus at end of life it's 100% recyclable.

Environment

PERFORMANCE WITHOUT COMPROMISE

Karta’s large format panels are fast to install, covering 0.64m² per panel and 0.73m² per plank. The tongue and groove system along with no plywood subfloor requirements makes it an excellent fast track option. It’s commercially durable with its matt finish rated as AC5. The high performance coating has an abrasion-resistance of 6000 revolutions, has a high fire rating and excellent thermal values making it suitable for heavy traffic in commercial spaces. Karta is suitable for underfloor heating installations with no toxic emissions even at high heating temperatures.

SUSTAINABLY SOURCED

Karta's wood fibre is sourced from managed softwood plantations and uses every part of the tree. We create multi-oriented strand board with three bonded layers of long wood strands, arranged at right angles to each other, providing excellent dimensional stability and high bending resistance values.

carbon negative

1m² of Karta stores 12kg of carbon for every 7.2kg of flooring installed. Its GWP (Global Warming Potential) is negative, making every m2 produced beneficial to the environment. In contrast to most other manmade floors such as LVT and ceramic tiles that have environmentally negative impacts.

100% RECYCLABLE

For end of life disposal, either recycle into particle board manufacture or for use in CHP green energy, which can generate up to 191mk/m². Karta is completely biodegradable with no leeching of toxins into the ground water supply.
