Oak fermentation vats feature strongly in the history of vodka production, and are an important part of our industrial and social heritage.

Our Vodka Oak Range of printed floors are based on the barrels from Wyborowa Distillery in Poland were made in the 1960s and 1970s. The lots we used for Karta were from 1972 – the best year as far as we know! They were ordered by Polmos, the state-owned vodka company and were made of French oak by French coopers. Over time, the concentrated spirit aged the wood inside the vats to a lovely mellow tone which we have used to produce a record of this exceptional material.
